Collection of field recordings of Kavirondo, Kikuyu, and Meru tribal musics of Kenya, recorded by someone named Barnes. The recordings may have been made by James Barnes, who traveled through British East Africa and the Belgian Congo in 1913 with photographer Cherry Kearton, a journey described in his book, Through Central Africa from Coast to Coast (New York, 1915). The cylinders were a gift of Helen Heffron Roberts in 1937.
